Matcha Bear premium bamboo whisk

The zhen or shin (真) is one of the oldest chasen forms in the tea ceremony tradition, preferred by both Urasenke and Omotesenke, Japan's two leading schools. The tines curve gradually from base to tip with no sharp loop at the end. Less resistance, more control.

Each one is handcrafted from a single piece of bamboo with a narrower handle and finer tines. The result is a lighter feel in the hand and a noticeably thinner, more delicate microfoam. If you've been making matcha for a while, you'll feel the difference in the first bowl.

The tines are finer because they're hand-made - treat it accordingly.

NB! Before first use, soak your chasen in hot water for 5 minutes. This softens the tines and opens them fully - skipping this step is the most common reason whisks break early.
